The arrest of prominent film writer and actor Posani Krishna Murali, who worked as the chairman of the AP Film Development Corporation during the YSR Congress Party regime, has become a sensation in the Telugu states. There is a heated debate in political circles about this. It is known that Posani Krishna Murali was arrested by the AP police in Hyderabad on Wednesday. On Thursday, the police, under the supervision of District SP Vidyasagar, interrogated him for about 9 hours at Obulavaripalle PS in Annamaya district and appeared before the judge at night. After lengthy arguments from 9.30 pm to 5 am, the Railway Kodur court gave a verdict, remanding him for 14 days. With this, Posani will be in remand till March 13.
YCP allegations
The YSRCP is expressing strong objection to Posani's arrest. "This is a partisan act as part of the Red Book Constitution," the YSRCP leaders are alleging. However, the TDP leaders have clearly stated their stance that "if someone commits a crime, he must be punished."
Case details
A case has been registered against Posani at Obulavaripalli police station on charges of making inappropriate comments against Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party leaders. The police took action on the complaint of Jana Sena leader Jogineni Mani. A case has been registered against Posani under IPC sections 196, 353(2), 111 red with 3(5). According to the police, Posani made comments that caused discord between castes and spoke in a way that denigrated some castes of the film industry. After a judicial review of the case, he was arrested in Hyderabad on Wednesday night amid dramatic developments.
TDP leaders had already announced that “after the arrest of Vallabhaneni Vamsi, two more leaders from Krishna district will be arrested.” But the unexpected arrest of Posani Krishna Murali has suddenly heated up the political scene.
YCP activists are worried.
YSRCP activists staged a large protest at Obulavaripalli police station opposing Posani's arrest. They created a tense atmosphere by raising slogans against the government.
YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed his anger over Posani's arrest. "God is watching everything," he commented. He said that he personally called Posani's wife and consulted her, and assured her that "YSRCP will support Murali."
Sub-jail
The arrest has sparked a political uproar. While YSRCP cadres are describing it as an act of “mutual partisanship”, TDP leaders are defending their argument by saying that “the matter should be settled before the court”.
Meanwhile, the Railway Kodur court has remanded Posani Krishna Murali in custody for 14 days. SubsequentlyRajampet Sub JailIt is reported that the police are likely to take Posani into custody today.
